Pavel Durov explains the scheme: a "takedown extortionist" hid AI-modified illegal content inside an edited old message — invisible to the group's members, impossible to report — then flagged it straight to Apple, part of a ransom racket targeting communities whose owners refuse to pay. Apple pulled the app used by over a billion people without even contacting Telegram first — and Durov's warning lands hard: if it can happen to Telegram, it can happen to any app. Kim zooms out to the bigger picture: the global war on the last major platform that won't play ball.
