China's AI industry tops 1.2 trillion yuan in 2025, up 40 pct

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology noted that the country was home to more than 6,600 AI companies as of June, representing 15 percent of the global total. The industry is highly concentrated in a few regions, with Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Shandong accounting for more than 80 percent of the national total.
