Anu Kaloti: Migrant Workers Association president defends mock guillotine protest against Winston Peters

Published 1 month ago
Description

The Migrant Workers Association is defending its graphic protest, in which a dummy of Winston Peters was beheaded with a guillotine near Auckland's downtown train station.

The display in Te Komititanga square aimed to challenge the Foreign Minister telling a Chinese Green MP to 'go back home'.

Peters has called for action against the mock execution.

But Association President Anu Kaloti's reiterating that this was purely satire.

"It's symbolic, no one's head has been chopped off, it was an effigy - and the guillotine that was used wasn't a real guillotine."
