Elderly Australians dying while waiting for approved aged care
Published 1 week, 2 days ago
Description
Thousands of elderly Australians are dying while waiting for approved aged care support, with an average wait time of 12 months. Thirteen Australians die every day in the queue for home care packages, despite having already been assessed and approved for the care they need. A new advocacy group called FACES (Families for Aged Care Equity and Support) is calling for quarterly transparency on waiting list numbers and deaths, as four different versions of these figures currently exist within government records.
