Classic Radio 08-03-26 - Subways are for Sleeping, Nebraska Jack, and For Love of Murder
Published 1 month ago
Description
Drama on a Monday
First, a look at the events of the day.
Then, The CBS Radio Workshop, originally broadcast August 3, 1956, 70 years ago, Subways Are For Sleeping starring Byron Kane. A fine adaptation of the fascinating short story about a homeless man (but not a bum!) in New York. Link to the original article - https://harpers.org/archive/1956/03/subways-are-for-sleeping/
Followed by Frontier Gentleman starring John Dehner, originally broadcast August 3, 1958, 68 years ago, Nebraska Jack. Jack has five Indian wives, many children, and an understandable taste for whiskey.
Then, Barrie Craig Confidential Investigator starring William Gargan, originally broadcast August 3, 1954, 72 years ago, For Love of Murder. Barrie bails out of jail a Damon Runyon type. He turns out to be broken-hearted and possibly a murderer.
Followed by Somebody Knows, originally broadcast August 3, 1950, 76 years ago, The Paula Kohler Eubanks Murder. On June 26, 1947, Ms. Eubanks' body was found at the Kansas City (Missouri) city dump, strangled to death. CBS offers $5000 for information leading to the conviction of her killer.
Finally, Claudia, originally broadcast August 3, 1948, 78 years ago, Gifts for Bobby. Kathryn Bard and Paul Crabtree star.
