A flagship wireless speaker that watches its own driver movement in real time is not a small claim, so we dig into what KEF is really doing with the new LS Luxe and why it matters for premium residential installations. From day one, this product is pitched at busy integrators and design-led clients who want fewer boxes, fewer compromises, and a system that can live proudly in the room rather than hide in a rack.

We walk through the core acoustic engineering, starting with KEF’s 12th-generation 6.5-inch Uni-Q driver and Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). Uni-Q’s coaxial layout is designed for even dispersion and a wider listening sweet spot, while MAT acts as an absorber behind the tweeter to reduce unwanted energy and distortion. We also cover the mechanically decoupled driver assembly and how KEF aims to protect clarity by limiting vibration transfer inside the cabinet.

Then we get into the big new talking point: velocity control technology. With a sensor monitoring driver motion and feeding corrections to a custom amplifier, LS Luxe uses closed-loop control to tighten bass accuracy and reduce distortion, paired with serious onboard amplification and KEF’s Music Integrity Engine DSP for consistent tonality and dynamics. We round out with the practical installer view: high-resolution audio up to 24-bit 384 kHz, streaming support (including Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, AirPlay and Google Cast), HDMI eARC and other wired inputs, subwoofer outputs, app-based room EQ in normal and expert modes, plus the Ross Lovegrove sculptural cabinet, finishes, stands, and accessories. If you care about high-end wireless audio, luxury speaker design, and reliable performance in real rooms, this is one to hear.
