An activist whose 26-day hunger strike became the emotional core of India's youth-led "Cockroach" protests has ended his fast, yet the movement he helped ignite shows little sign of winding down. Sonam Wangchuk, 59, who had survived on salt water since late June, said he stopped only after appeals from dozens of members of Parliament and what he called a long negotiation, conceding that not all of his demands had been met. Demonstrators vowed on Friday to press on, and the protests have since spread from New Delhi to Mumbai, Hyderabad and other major cities.
