Australia achieved its best ever day in Commonwealth Games athletics history in Glasgow, winning seven gold, five silver and five bronze medals. Historic victories included the men's 4x100m relay team (Kennedy, Azzopardi, Law, Browning) winning Australia's first gold in the event in 52 years, and a clean sweep of the women's metric mile podium by Abbey Caldwell, Jessica Hull and Claudia Hollingsworth. Additional gold medals were secured by Matt Denny in discus, Mackenzie Little in javelin, Jemima Montag in race walk, Kurtis Marschall in high jump, and Rhiannon Clarke in the 200m T38.
