Australia achieved unprecedented success in the Commonwealth Games athletics programme, with clean sweeps of both the women's mile and the women's 10,000m race walk podiums. There was also a historic breakthrough in the men's 4x100m relay, with Australia winning the event for the first time since 1974. Led by the nation's fastest man, Lachlan Kennedy, Josh Azzopardi and Calab Law ran the middle legs before handing over to Rohan Browning, who held on to secure a memorable victory. There was also success in the boxing ring, with Jye Dixon claiming gold after winning his final by unanimous decision.
