De: Der Nachmittagssonne küsste das Wohnzimmer von Anke und Klaus.
En: The afternoon sun kissed the living room of Anke and Klaus.
De: Die Wände waren dekoriert mit alten Familienfotos und die Möbel, ein wenig abgenutzt aber gemütlich, standen unordentlich verteilt.
En: The walls were decorated with old family photos and the furniture, slightly worn but cozy, was scattered around in a haphazard fashion.
De: Auf dem Couchtisch lagen Reiseführer und ein großer, farbiger Straßenatlas, sowie das Handy, das die Verkehrslage anzeigte.
En: On the coffee table lay travel guides and a large, colorful road atlas, along with the cellphone displaying the traffic situation.
De: Das sanfte Licht schien durch die dünnen Vorhänge und tauchte den Raum in warmes Gold.

En: “There’s a lot to discover, even if we’re stuck in traffic.” “But Klaus,” Anke replied, her tone sharper than intended.
De: „Der Stau wird uns Stunden kosten.
En: “The traffic jam will cost us hours.
De: Mein ganzer Plan ist dahin.“ „Manchmal ist es nicht schlecht, wenn Dinge nicht wie geplant laufen“, meinte Klaus gelassen.
En: My whole plan is ruined.” “Sometimes it’s not bad if things don’t go as planned,” Klaus said calmly.
De: „Vielleicht finden wir eine nette kleine Eisdiele oder eine schöne Aussicht unterwegs, die nicht im Plan steht.“ Diese Worte brachten das Fass zum Überlaufen.
En: “Maybe we’ll find a nice little ice cream shop or a beautiful view on the way that’s not in the plan.” These words were the last straw.
