Back to Episodes2027 Ford F-150 Order Guide Leaks With A Bigger Base Engine
Description
What's new for Ford's legendary pickup?
The Ford F-150 is due for an update, which it needs as key rivals enhance their lineups. Ram has already doubled down on V8 power for the 2027 1500 pickup, while the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will soon enter a new generation.
Ford hasn’t officially announced what’s new for the 2027 F-150 yet, but the order guide has leaked via F-150gen14, giving us an early look at some of the expected changes. A new EcoBoost V6 engine, fresh colors, and new packages will be introduced for the best-selling Ford pickup, but do these changes go far enough?

Upgraded Standard Engine
Ford
The leaked order guide shows that the standard 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine will be discontinued for the new model year. In its place, Ford will introduce a 3.0-liter version of the V6 EcoBoost. Outputs for the larger engine are unknown, but we know the older 2.7L mill makes 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0L engine is expected to be slightly more powerful.
The only other engine change in the guide is the availability of the 5.0L V8 on King Ranch and Platinum models. Currently, these trims are only compatible with the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost and the 3.5L V6 PowerBoost hybrid. The V8, which makes 400 hp and 410 lb-ft, provides old-school brawn for customers who don’t want a more complex turbo and/or hybrid model.
No other engine changes are noted, although it’s worth pointing out that a front axle with a Torsen differential is a new option on the rugged Tremor variant.
Updated Colors and Packages
Ford
The 2027 F-150 will be offered with three new exterior color choices: Birch Sand, Neptune Blue, and Wild Green. These will take the place of three deleted colors, those being Antimatter Blue, Argon Blue, and Avalanche. No new colors have been mentioned for the interior.
Customization is a big part of the truck experience, which explains why there are four new packages for 2027:
- FX4 Off-Road Package for STX
- Lariat Chrome Appearance Package for Lariat
- F-150 Lobo Package for STX
- Platinum Satin Appearance Package for Platinum
The FX4 Off-Road Package requires 4x4 and includes upgrades like hill descent control, off-road-tuned front shocks, monotube rear shocks, rock crawl mode, skid plates, and an electronic-locking rear axle. The Lariat Chrome Appearance Package adds a chrome finish for the bumpers, mirrors, door handles, and exhaust.
