After inheriting a hosted Elasticsearch setup through an acquisition, Your Store Wizards faced a shutdown timeline it didn't choose. Rather than staff and run its own OpenSearch cluster, the team moved its search platform, Search Magic, to managed open source OpenSearch. The migration took under twelve hours and broke nothing. The platform now requires almost no daily attention, which freed up close to two thousand engineering hours a year that went straight into relevance and ranking work across hundreds of storefronts.
