Police in Melbourne have arrested three people in Craigieburn following a drive-by shooting at an Altona North home where a young family with two children were asleep inside. At least five shots were fired into the window and front door around 3.45am, with the offenders fleeing in a white ute before being apprehended approximately 40 minutes north of the scene. In separate incidents, Sydney police are searching for a teenage driver after a chase ended in a crash in Glendening, and the Albanese government faces criticism from Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania over plans to abolish higher private health insurance rebates for senior Australians.
