Fauci Takes The Fifth

Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared before a Senate committee Wednesday under subpoena, invoking his Fifth Amendment right to not answer a question over 100 times during a hearing that also saw one of his attorneys escorted from the chamber.  Jim Roope reports that Fauci, who received a pardon from President Biden before he left office, could face Contempt of Congress charges as early as next week.  

Blanche’s Nomination In Question

A day before the Senate Judiciary Committee was scheduled to vote on Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general, the Senior Senator from Texas canceled a meeting with the nominee.  Correspondent Clayton Neville reports the Blanche nomination is now hanging on by a thread.

Trump Wants SCOTUS To Rule On Carroll Case

President Donald Trump has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the $83 million dollar judgment against him in the defamation case brought by columnist E. Jean Carroll.  Correspondent Lisa Dwyer reports the Justice Department is also petitioning the high court to allow the federal government to replace Trump as the defendant in the case.

Wall Street suffered its worst day of the year on Wednesday despite the Federal Reserve not raising interest rates, but it was opposition by some members of the Fed leaving key rates unchanged that helped send the Dow Jones Industrial Average to an 11 hundred point loss.  Washington correspondent Sagar Meghani reports.
