The US sanctioned 10 Chinese shipping companies on Wednesday that it claimed were transporting Iranian oil.

美国周三制裁了10家中国航运公司，美方称这些公司一直在运输伊朗石油。

The US State Department claimed that the companies, based in Hong Kong and the mainland, plus eight tankers, were operating against US sanctions on Iranian oil exports.

美国国务院声称，这些注册地位于中国香港和内地的企业，外加八艘油轮，其运营行为违反了美国针对伊朗石油出口实施的制裁规定。

The move effectively freezes the companies' assets in the US, and would prohibit US companies and individuals from doing business with them.

这一举措实质上会冻结这些企业在美国的资产，并且禁止美国企业和个人与它们开展业务往来。

The Foreign Ministry of China has consistently opposed illegal unilateral sanctions and "long-arm jurisdiction" that lack a basis in international law and urged the US to halt such wrongful practices.

中国外交部一贯反对没有国际法依据的非法单边制裁和“长臂管辖”，并敦促美方停止此类错误做法。

"One day, the word of the day is 'ban'. The next day, the word of the day is 'block'. In effect, they mean the same: The US seems drunk with enthusiasm in its zeal to use such unilateral measures. Yet the more the White House keeps delivering the same message, the less interest people have," Anthony Moretti, an associate professor in the Communication and Organizational Leadership Department at Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania, told China Daily.

"In effect, these bans and blocks offer the administration a sense of toughness, but that image is not what one international country after another thinks of the US right now. There appears to be no strategy to truly deal with these issues," Moretti said.

莫雷蒂称：“事实上，各类禁令与封锁政策只会让本届政府自我标榜态度强硬，但如今世界各国眼中的美国早已不是这般模样。美方并未拿出能够真正解决相关问题的可行方案。”
