אודות חמשה עשר באב איתא במשנה "לא היו ימים טובים לישראל כחמשה עשר באב וכו'". ונקודת הביאור בזה: ט"ו באב הוא יום שבו "קיימא סיהרא באשלומתא", שזה מורה על שלימות בנ"י הדומין ומונין ללבנה. והעילוי בט"ו באב על ט"ו בניסן ותשרי: חודש ניסן קשור עם עבודת הצדיקים וחודש תשרי קשור עם עבודת התשובה, ולכן ט"ו תשרי יש בו עילוי על ט"ו ניסן, כי ענין התשובה באה לאחרי הירידה וכו'. ומזה מובן שט"ו באב שבא לאחרי ירידה הכי גדולה, חורבן ביהמ"ק וקודש הקדשים, הנה העלי' שלאח"ז היא גדולה ביותר. בקשר לט"ו באב איתא בגמ' ש"מכאן ואילך דמוסיף יוסיף" ופרש"י "מט"ו באב דמוסיף לילות על ימים לעסוק בתורה יוסיף חיים על חייו", ובמילא יש לקבל החלטות טובות להוסיף בלימוד התורה (בלילות) ועריכת התוועדויות בקשר לט"ו באב ובשבת שלאח"ז.

The Mishnah states: “There were no festivals for the Jewish people like the Fifteenth of Av...” The reason is because the Fifteenth of Av is the day on which “The moon is in its full state,” an expression of the completeness of the Jewish people, who are likened to the moon and whose calendar is based on the moon etc. The advantage of the 15th of Av over the 15th of Nissan and Tishrei is as follows: Nissan is associated with the service of tzaddikim, while Tishrei is associated with the service of teshuvah. Therefore, the 15th of Tishrei possesses an advantage over the 15th of Nissan, because teshuvah possesses the advantage of an ascent that follows a descent. Similarly, it is understood that the 15th of Av, which follows the greatest descent of all – the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash and the Holy of Holies – is the greatest ascent. In connection with the 15th of Av, the Gemara states: “From this point onward, one who adds will add,” meaning that from the 15th of Av onward, one who increases his nighttime Torah study adds life to his life (Rashi). Accordingly, one should resolve to increase in Torah study (at night) and to arrange farbrengens in connection with the 15th of Av and the Shabbos that follows it.
