Schools warned over AI manipulation of student photos
Published 2 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
The eSafety Commissioner has reported a sharp rise in AI-manipulated images of students and teachers taken from school websites and social media, with over 100 cases in three months including the creation of child exploitation material. A new advisory encourages schools to implement stronger parental consent rules before posting photographs online and to review existing content. Some schools are responding by avoiding showing faces, using AI-generated fictional pupils in promotional materials, or distributing password-protected or printed newsletters.
