The Tour de France reached Paris yesterday with a final stage that once again delivered far more than the traditional procession and sprint. ASO deserves enormous credit for reimagining the finale, using the Montmartre circuit to create genuine tension, spectacular crowds and an unpredictable race. However, the decision to freeze the general classification with roughly 41 kilometres remaining effectively created an artificial “finish line” long before the Champs-Élysées. In this episode, Anthony unpacks the drama, the spectacle and whether cycling’s biggest race can truly claim to be racing all the way to the finish.
