Twelve-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres was found dead inside a box behind a vacant Connecticut home, nearly a year after police believe she was killed and hidden by her family. Her mother, Karla Garcia, along with Garcia’s sister and boyfriend, have been arrested and charged in connection with Mimi’s death, which authorities say involved prolonged abuse and neglect. The case has shocked the New Britain community, as no missing persons report was ever filed and officials now allege the child’s body was kept in a basement for months before being dumped.
