Irvine could soon host a professional baseball team starting as early as 2027, with a new squad set to play at the Great Park Championship Baseball Stadium. Spearheaded by Innovation Baseball Partners, the team would join the Pioneer Baseball League — partnered with MLB — for a minimum five-year deal, with an option to extend. The season would run from May to September, offering fans plenty of summer games. The city would retain control over parking and ticket pricing, while also receiving a profit share tied to home game attendance. In return, the team would manage stadium advertising and naming rights. The stadium, already nine years old, will remain open to youth and local groups, with the city planning community programs like clinics and coaching workshops. City Council and the Great Park Board will vote on the deal, aiming to bring affordable family fun, boost community spirit, and support local businesses through increased park traffic.
