Trump slaps 12.5% tariff on Australian imports
Published 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
US President Donald Trump has imposed a 12.5% tariff on Australian imports, up from 10%, despite Australia's close defence relationship with the United States. The Albanese government has labelled the decision disappointing and unjustified, with Trump's administration arguing Australia and 60 other countries aren't adequately addressing forced labour concerns. Australian beef, gold and copper remain exempt from the tariffs, and trade between the two nations has increased 67% since Liberation Day.
