A violent offender serving a life sentence in Western Australia is fighting to be transferred from a men's prison to a women's facility after transitioning gender while incarcerated. The State Administrative Tribunal ordered the Department of Justice to move the prisoner, known only as SD, to a women's jail, but the WA government is challenging this decision in the Supreme Court.
