Man charged over AI-generated explicit deepfakes campaign
Published 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
A 52-year-old man from Cleveland, Queensland, has been charged with 43 offences after allegedly using artificial intelligence to create fake nude images of women by superimposing their faces onto bodies performing sex acts. Police allege he printed and distributed posters across south-east Queensland that named the victims, revealed their workplaces, and falsely labelled them as sex workers. Eight victims have been identified so far, with investigators believing there may be more, while new Queensland laws specifically targeting the creation and distribution of such images remain unwritten despite being announced months earlier.
