Description
The Commonwealth Games opening ceremony takes place in Glasgow with King Charles and Queen Camilla in attendance. Australian pole vaulter Nina Kennedy has been named as flag bearer, while para-swimmer Tim Hodge will carry a bespoke baton, marking the first time in Games history that all 74 nations will have specially designed batons. Kennedy recovered from a nine-month hamstring injury to reach world-class form, while Hodge is a twice Olympic champion and defending Commonwealth Games champion who began his international career in Glasgow at age 15.
