What is dispensationalism? Bennis the Menace tests it against Romans 9:6, Revelation 3:9 and Revelation 20, and traces it to John Darby in 1830.

Bennis earned a biblical studies degree at Moody Bible Institute, then spent about a year re-studying the end-times system he was taught. He calls dispensationalism standard evangelical end-times teaching, invented in 1830 by John Darby, and says a "dispensation" is not the same as dispensationalism.
On Israel, Bennis argues from "they are not all Israel, which are of Israel" (Romans 9:6), Jesus in John 8:39-44, John the Baptist's "think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father" (Matthew 3:9), and "the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not" (Revelation 3:9; Revelation 2:9). He says no New Testament passage promises a regathering after the AD 70 dispersion, and that apocalyptic language must be read as its first audience read it.
Later: the pre-tribulation rapture, Satan bound a thousand years (Revelation 20:1-10), the strong man bound (Matthew 12:28-29), Satan's little season, "all Israel shall be saved" (Romans 11:26), and a tangent on the world before the flood (Numbers 13:23). Daniel's 70 weeks is saved for a future episode.
