E-Scooter Regulations Tightening

E-Scooter Regulations Tightening

Published 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
Illegal e-scooters could be seized and destroyed under new plans being considered by the Government.    It follows changes announced earlier this week banning e-scooters for under 18s, with a further clampdown expected in September.    In August, higher fines will come into effect to get a seized scrambler returned.    Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney says he’s looking at similar fines for e-scooter users.   The changes come amid growing concern over serious injuries involving young people and increasing reports of dangerous and antisocial use.     But how will these new rules be enforced, and will they make our roads and streets any safer?     To discuss that, Alan Morrissey was joined by Superintendent Eddie Golden, Traffic Superintendent for the Clare/Tipperary Garda Division.
