Former Broome bishop faces abuse allegations in court
Published 2 weeks, 4 days ago
Description
Former Bishop of Broome Christopher Saunders faces trial over allegations he sexually abused three young Indigenous men during alcohol-fuelled gatherings in the Kimberley over an 11-year period. One alleged victim testified in court, claiming the senior Catholic figure gave him alcohol and cigarettes before forcing him to perform sexual acts, telling him 'no one is going to find out'. Saunders maintains his innocence, with his defence lawyer stating the alleged offending simply didn't happen.
