The Apostle Peter warns of scoffers who will deny the coming judgment by fire, saying everything continues as it always has. Peter replies by saying that, while it seems like a long time has passed to us, God doesn’t see time the way we do.
Peter writes that just as surely as there was a global judgment at the time of Noah, so another judgement is coming. But Jesus is delaying his judgment because he doesn’t want any to perish.
The rock layers and fossils point to the historicity of the flood. Just as there was a flood in Noah’s day, so there is a judgment coming. But we can be saved through faith in Jesus.
