SNUBBED: The Athletic RANKS Houston’s Conner Weigman Outside Top 20?! WHAT ELSE Could He Have Done?
Description
Houston Cougars quarterback Conner Weigman’s ranking sparks controversy—does his dual-threat talent deserve a higher spot among college football’s elite? Analyst Parker Ainsworth breaks down The Athletic’s new FBS quarterback rankings, questioning the methodology that places Weigman just 4th in the Big 12 and 28th nationally, despite a 10-win season, 3,400 total yards, and 36 touchdowns.
The show dives into key comparisons with Big 12 rivals like Drew Mestemaker (Oklahoma State) and Noah Fifita (Arizona), dissecting statistical production, the significance of turnovers, and the weight of playing in a Power 4 conference. Parker examines whether injuries and team context unfairly cloud Wegman’s perception compared to quarterbacks from lesser programs. Should team success and a true dual-threat profile count for more? Join the debate as Houston’s high-octane offense, roster upgrades, and expectations for the upcoming season take center stage.
