איתא בגמ' "בשבעה (באב) נכנסו נכרים להיכל", ומובן שהכוונה אינה לצער ח"ו אלא לעורר ע"ד ההשתדלות למהר את הגאולה ובנין ביהמ"ק, וכמ"ש במדרש ש"עלה ארי' כו' והחריב.. על-מנת שיבוא ארי' כו' ויבנה אריאל" ‏–‏ זה שרואים שלא רק ש"עדיין לא בא!" אלא עוד ניתוסף יום כזה שמיוחד בענין בלתי-רצוי, ה"ז ע"מ ליתן לבנ"י תוספת-כח לתביעה הנפשית שתבוא כבר בפועל הגאולה! הקשר בין שבעה במנחם-אב לגאולה; ובפרט שמקשרים א"ז עם ענין הצדקה, ואע"פ שמצינו שלילה בכלל אינו זמן לנתינת הצדקה אבל בשעה שהעני עצמו נמצא במקום ופושט יד לצדקה פשוט שצריכים לתת לו מיד, "ובפרט אַז דער פשיטת יד און דער תביעה פון דעם "עני".. איז דאָך שוין אַ מעשה.. פון ניינצן הונדערט יאָר, איז דאָך פאַרשטאַנדיק בפשטות.. אַז תיכף ומיד ממש דאַרף זיין .. די נתינה פון גאולה האמיתית והשלימה!".

The Gemara says: “On the seventh (of Av) gentiles entered the Heichal.” Obviously, the point is not to cause pain, chas v’shalom, but to awaken us in our efforts to hasten the Redemption and the building of the Beis Hamikdash. As the Midrash states, “A lion arose…and destroyed… in order that a lion should come… and build Ariel.” Thus, when one sees that not only has Moshiach still not come, but that there has been another of exile, it is in order to give the Jewish people additional strength in their heartfelt demand that the Redemption come immediately and literally. The connection between 7 Menachem-Av and the Redemption is especially emphasized when it is tied to giving tzedakah. Although we find that nighttime is not generally the time designated for giving tzedakah, nevertheless, when the poor person himself is standing before you and he stretches out his hand, it is obvious that one must give him immediately – and especially since the outstretched hand and the plea of this “poor person” has already been ongoing for nineteen hundred years. It is obvious that the true and complete Redemption must come literally right now without any delay whatsoever!
