Usually. Most of the time.

It’s a slightly more advanced way of saying usually, and it’s very common in both spoken and written English.

Example:

Imagine your friend is terrified of speaking English.

Before every conversation, they expect people to laugh at their mistakes.

You encourage them by saying:

“More often than not, people are happy that you’re making the effort to speak their language.”

In other words, most people appreciate the effort rather than judging it.
