Published 3 weeks, 1 day ago
Description
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that Clare recorded the highest rate of re-offending in the country last year.
Of the 49 people with a Clare address who were released from prison in 2023, 31 committed a new offence within a year, giving the county a re-offending rate of 63%, compared to the national average of 41%.
To discuss what these figures tell us, Alan Morrissey was joined by Saoirse Brady, Executive Director of the Irish Penal Reform Trust.
