The Floor That Opened Into the Theater's First Night
Description
Luna descends through the door in the floor into the raw earth beneath the buried theater, where the timbers of the original 1889 stage still stand. She finds the first Marguerite's handwritten journal, its final entry describing the night the bargain was struck and the moment she realized her daughter was not her daughter. The inkwell from her grandmother's memory is real, and the book of names waits on a lectern, its blank page fluttering. Luna writes her own name in the space where the curse began, but the ink dries to blood and the theater groans awake around her. The children from the buried theater rise through the floorboards, singing a new verse of the lullaby, and Luna understands she has not broken the curse—she has become its author.
