Description

Father Walter Macken, beloved priest of Opus Dei and a spiritual fixture in Galway and Dublin, passed away peacefully in Dublin on May 21st. Born in London and educated at the Jesuit school in Oughterard, he studied in Rome before returning to Ireland to serve as a gifted preacher and linguist, even penning a weekly column for the City Tribune. A lifelong cyclist and swimmer, he embodied joy and community spirit. A public memorial Mass will be held Saturday, July 18th, at 10:30 AM at St. Ignatius (the Jes) on Sea Road — open to all who wish to honor his life.
