Elon Musk’s million-dollar payouts could lead to criminal charges

Published 1 week, 6 days ago
Description
Tech trillionaire Elon Musk could soon be hit with criminal charges in the state of Wisconsin. At issue: the million-dollar checks Musk handed out at a rally in Green Bay last spring, in an attempt to drum up support for Brad Schimel, the conservative candidate running for state Supreme Court. The Wisconsin Elections Commission found probable cause that the stunt broke state law and voted last week to refer the case to the Brown County District Attorney. Prosecutors have a little over a month to let the commission know if they plan to pursue charges. JR Ross, editor of WisPolitics, joined our News Producer Faye Parks to share his take on the case and explain how campaign spending has changed in Wisconsin since Musk handed out the checks.
