Parents Struggling With Back To School Costs
Published 3 weeks, 6 days ago
Description
As families enjoy the summer holidays, many parents are already looking ahead to the cost of getting their children back to school.
New research from the Irish League of Credit Unions shows that secondary school parents face average costs of more than €2,100 this year, with almost six in ten describing those costs as a financial burden.
More than one in four expect to borrow money to cover the expense, while concerns remain over the rising cost of uniforms, technology and other school-related charges.
To discuss the findings and what they mean for families here in Clare, Alan Morrissey was joined by Louis Faye of St Francis Credit Union in Ennis and Shirley Conway Ryan, a parent from Tulla.
