Manual switch configuration can turn a straightforward AV over IP job into a slow, stressful commissioning day. We get into the latest update from AV Pro Edge, which has refreshed its MXNet 1G networking platform with the MXNet P Series, a new generation of pre-configured network switches designed for larger MXNet deployments where bandwidth headroom and PoE capacity are not optional.

We walk through what “pre-configured for MXNet” really means for busy integrators: fewer setup steps, less time spent fighting multicast, and more predictable performance when video streams start flying. The P Series includes built-in IGMP snooping, VLANs, and quality of service, and both the 24-port and 48-port models come in a compact 1U rack-mount chassis with support for larger multi-switch designs. We also highlight the practical design implications for residential, hospitality, and commercial installs where you may be dealing with multiple racks, longer cable runs, and mixed endpoint power requirements.

Then we dig into the headline specs. The flagship SW48P targets high-channel-count systems with a major step up in uplink bandwidth via SFP28 connections, a high switching capacity, and a substantial PoE budget including higher-power PoE on the top ports for demanding devices. For smaller builds, the 24-port model offers a more compact approach while keeping the MXNet-first configuration and strong uplink options. We also touch on the continued role of the MXNet eSeries for cost-sensitive projects, including use as a backbone for Dante and AES67 audio networks.

If you want faster deployments, cleaner video switching, and fewer surprises in your next MXNet design, listen now, then subscribe, share the episode with your team, and leave us a review. What is the biggest networking bottleneck you keep running into on site?
