A premium hi-fi that behaves like an installer-friendly product rather than a pile of separate boxes is rare, so we zoom in on a notable UK launch. Sound Design Distribution has added Swedish audio brand AcuVoice Systems to its UK portfolio, bringing the Stream S3 to integrators who want fast, repeatable deployments without giving up serious sound quality. The headline is simple: an integrated active music playback system that combines streaming, DSP processing, amplification, and wireless speaker tech into one cohesive ecosystem.
We talk through what Stream S3 includes and why it may simplify system design: a dedicated hub paired with WISA-enabled active loudspeakers, plus high-resolution wireless transmission up to 24-bit/96 kHz. We also run through the features clients ask for every day, from Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect to AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth 5.2, and lossless playback support. On the wired side, we cover HDMI ARC for TV audio, multiple optical inputs, coaxial digital, analogue RCA, USB audio for PC and Mac, USB disc playback, and a subwoofer output with advanced 2.1 bass management.
Performance claims and engineering choices get a close look too. Each three-way loudspeaker uses five active drive units with 600 watts of onboard amplification, and AcuVoice highlights force-cancelling woofers to reduce cabinet vibration plus “virtual source point technology” where DSP time-aligns every driver to emulate a point-source speaker. We also note the Sweden-made build, finish options, and the UK price of £5,995 for the speaker pair and hub. If you like concise custom installation news with practical detail, subscribe, share the brief with a colleague, and leave a review so more integrators can find it.
