The Photograph That Cried My Mother's Name
Description
Luna's hand closes on the door painted with her birth date, but the paint is wet and runs like ink. She steps through into a memory of the moment before her mother's promise was made—a summer afternoon in 1985, where her mother is a child playing in the theater's back garden. Luna watches as the cloaked figure approaches from the stage door, carrying a baby that looks exactly like Luna as an infant. Her mother sees her, and Luna realizes the bargain is about to be struck again unless she intervenes. The shadow child whispers that touching her mother will rewrite the memory but trap Luna in it forever. The garden begins to rot as the cloaked figure turns, and Luna must choose—speak to her mother, grab the baby, or let the moment play out as the original curse demands.
