From Stolen Generations to truth-telling: Survivors share painful memories through art
Published 1 month, 2 weeks ago
Description
The Stolen Generations refers to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were removed from their families under government policies for much of the 20th century. Many boys were placed in institutions such as the Kinchela Aboriginal Boys Home in New South Wales, where former residents say they experienced harsh punishment, loss of culture and separation from loved ones. A new exhibition, Truth-Telling: Our Past, Present and Future, showcases artworks and personal stories from survivors, highlighting resilience, healing and the ongoing legacy of this painful chapter in Australian history.
