The Mirror That Held Her
Description
Luna stands before thirteen mirrors in the house on Maplewood Lane. Each reflects a version of herself from a timeline where the red door was opened — or wasn't. She must find the original, but as she examines each reflection, she notices the same stillness in every replica: they are waiting. One mirror shows a woman in her editing booth, tape in hand, eyes closed. The other twelve show Luna mid-step, one foot forward, as if frozen in the act of choosing. She touches the surface of the stillness mirror, and it ripples. Behind the glass, the woman opens her eyes — and they are not Luna's eyes. They are older, tired, familiar. They are Eleanor's. The breathing returns, not from the mirrors but from within them, and Luna realizes she has been looking at the wrong thing. She was never supposed to find the original. She was supposed to find the one that found her first.
