The Woman Who Was Never Recorded
Description
Luna stares at the name etched into her editing booth desk: Alice. The photograph from the Library of Unheard Voices shows a woman who could be her twin, standing at the red door before it was painted. Alice was the first copy—the prototype. Luna realizes the rules were written for someone else, and she has been following a script she was never meant to see. She returns to Beechwood Lane, where the locked bedroom door is now open and empty. Inside, she finds a cassette labeled 'Alice—Return' that contains a conversation between Alice and the man who built the Hollow. The man confesses that Alice was not a copy but the original, and Celia was the first copy. Luna learns that the breathing presence is not a trap but a residue of Alice's voice, trapped in the air. The episode ends with Luna holding the cassette and hearing her own voice say, 'You were never meant to find this. You were meant to be me.' Luna looks at her reflection in the dark window and sees Alice staring back.
