Description
Luna stands frozen in the hallway of a thousand doors, her hand on the knob of the third door. The lullaby hums from her own throat, but the heartbeat behind the door is not hers — it is a child's. She opens the door to a nursery that mirrors her own childhood room, but the furniture is antique and the wallpaper is from 1973. A cassette player sits on the crib, and the tape inside is labeled 'The Child Who Was Not Erased.' As she presses play, she hears her own voice — but younger, crying for a mother who never came. The heartbeat grows louder, and Luna realizes the child in the tape is still alive, hidden somewhere in the Hollow. She must find her before the breathing in her chest unwrites them both.
