Evening Edition: Surprising Amount of Americans Are Skipping Annual Check-ups

Published 3 hours ago
Description

A new medical survey is revealing a dangerous trend in American healthcare: 1 in 3 Americans have skipped an annual checkup in the past year. The survey, conducted by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, also shows that 1 in 7 Americans don't have a primary care doctor they can turn to for answers on surprise medical conditions. Some are turning to self diagnosis using AI, and others could be finding it hard to bridge the gap from pediatrician to primary care physician.

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers speaks with Dr. Zachary Bettinger, family medicine physician at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, who explains the important roles of a primary care physicians, and how regular check-ups can uncover hidden risks early.
