The Forest Clearing Where I Held My Mother's Hand
Description
Luna reaches for the ghost-light door, believing forgetting is the same as dying. But the door does not open. Instead, the forest clearing dissolves into a memory of her own birth—and she sees her mother's face for the first time. Marguerite, the original, watches from the edge of the clearing as a younger woman in a white dress pleads with the cloaked figure. Luna realizes the woman is her grandmother, bargaining for her mother's life. The cloaked figure offers a new price: the name of the next child, but Marguerite can choose which child. The shadow child merges with Luna's reflection, and Luna understands she was never the promised one—her mother was. The episode ends with Luna holding her mother's hand as a child, walking toward the theater's stage door, knowing the curse is not broken, but rewritten. The ghost-light flickers, and Luna whispers her own name into the dark.
