Dallas County has recorded more heat-related illness compared to the same time last year. In other news, a man who lost his wife and infant son in a recent natural gas explosion in Oak Cliff has sued Atmos Energy; Jeremy Theron Smith pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that was classified as a hate crime. According to the record, Smith conceded that his motive for the crime was his bias against Asian Americans; and a federal appeals court ruled Thursday that a community college and advocacy groups cannot reopen a lawsuit that ended the Texas Dream Act.
