🎙️ The Old Ones Are Hard to Kill | CBS Radio Mystery Theater Episode 1 Deep Dive
Description
Before streaming… there was this.
In 1974, something unexpected happened.
At a time when television had seemingly buried radio for good, CBS launched a nightly experiment—CBS Radio Mystery Theater. And to begin it… they chose a story about something that refuses to die.
👉 “The Old Ones Are Hard to Kill.”
In this deep dive, we return to Episode #1 and ask:
* Why did radio come back at all?
* Why begin with this story?
* And what makes it still feel unsettling today?
Featuring a powerful late-career performance by Agnes Moorehead, this episode isn’t just a mystery—it’s a statement.
About memory.About guilt.About the things we think are buried… but aren’t.
