Episode Details

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

Broadcasting from Chesterton Radio in Atchison, Kansas, this episode enters into one of the most quietly powerful film series in modern Catholic teaching: Christ the Storyteller.

Why does Christ speak in parables? Why does He tell stories instead of simply giving answers? And why do those stories still unsettle us—two thousand years later?

In this deep dive, we explore the Benedictine College series led by Professor Andrew Swafford, uncovering a truth that is easy to miss:

Christ’s stories are not meant to explain reality. They are meant to reveal you to yourself.

From the shocking reversals of the Good Samaritan…to the unsettling mercy of the Prodigal Son…to the quiet, dangerous power of seeds, lamps, and hidden treasure…

we discover that the parables are not safe moral lessons.

They are invitations. They are confrontations. They are, in the deepest sense, encounters.

In the spirit of G. K. Chesterton, we approach these stories not as puzzles to be solved, but as truths that become clearer the longer we live inside them.

Because in the end, the question is not:

“Do you understand the story?”

But:

“Has the story understood you?”
