Dr. Nirav Shah, the former director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), officially announced his candidacy Thursday morning to replace Graham Platner as the Democratic nominee in the critical Maine U.S. Senate race. Shah, who built immense statewide recognition leading Maine through the COVID-19 pandemic, recently finished as the runner-up in June's Democratic gubernatorial primary.
