Back to EpisodesHe Split His Tongue for a Snake God.. NIKKO JENKINS & The Voice of Apophis
Description
Nikko Allen Jenkins became recognizable online for his heavily tattooed face, unsettling stare, and bizarre prison self-mutilations, but behind the viral images is one of Nebraska's most disturbing murder cases. In August 2013, shortly after being released from prison, Jenkins participated in a ten-day killing spree in Omaha that left Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford, and Andrea Kruger dead. Jenkins later claimed the murders were sacrifices ordered by Apophis, the ancient Egyptian serpent deity associated with chaos.
In this episode of You Can't Unhear, we explore the Nikko Jenkins murders, his violent childhood and criminal family background, his years inside the Nebraska prison system, the four Omaha killings, his claims of hearing the voice of Apophis, his extreme self-mutilation, and the complicated debate surrounding his mental health and competency. Was Jenkins experiencing genuine religious delusions, manipulating the legal system, or was the truth somewhere far more disturbing in between?
